Welcome to the home page for SD71 Robotics. Hopefully, you will find it to be a useful source of resources, news and links to the robotics community.
VEX ROBOTICS - STARSTRUCK
This year, at the Secondary and College level, the new game is called STARSTRUCK. This video overview explains the game. The game manual contains more specific details (Aug 2014 revision).
VEX robots essentially have three parts: bases, platforms, and scoring elements. You can create a different module for each part. This allows for rapid prototyping (where ideas can be briefly explored and then accepted/rejected).
There are a number of different VEX bases. "Choosing Your Robot's Base" from VEXMEN. The VEX Inventor's Guide has a chapter on "structure" and one on "motion". There are some simple bots you can build to develop your skills.

The Robot world can be very flat! Many people in it try to share ideas and breakthroughs. Since these pages were created, in March 2009, we have had visits from people in 92 countries and from over 150 Canadian communities in 12 provinces and territories.
